Welcome to the Wild Fishing Scotland Fly Pattern Database

This database seeks to provide a range of fly patterns and information on tying the flies

Here is some help on the current implemented functions that are available to you :

A look at the database search page will show that searching is possible by name. This can be all of the name, just part of the name, or text contained within the name. A results page will be displayed, if there is more than one match click on the appropriate choice to display the result you want. Searches ARE NOT case sensitive. That is Peter is the same as peter.

For example : a search on Green - will list every fly where the first five letters of the name match GREEN (not case sensitive remember ). If the "Containing" button and not "Starts with" had been selected then every fly with GREEN anywhere in the name would be found.

To find every fly that starts with the letter A, type A (or a) in the name box, make sure the Starts with button is selected, then click Search

To list every fly in the database type %, select Starts with, then click Search. Remember though that as the database gets bigger, this will produce a very large set of results.

You can also submit your own fly patterns and photos by going to the Add fly patterns and photos page, filling in the boxes and clicking submit. Please note that your entry will not be displayed straight away, it must be enabled by the site administrator after being checked ***.

You can submit any fly pattern you wish, for any type of fishing. It does not have to be a recognised pattern, in fact new ideas are more than welcome.

The best way to use this database is to read the above and then give it a try, it's really very easy to understand.

Good luck!
